Client: Murphy Group

Outline Project description

A new 400kV double circuit overhead line [approximately 20.7 km in length] owned and operated by National Grid will be constructed to link the existing Canterbury North substation to a new proposed substation at Richborough.
Three temporary diversions of the existing UKPN 132kV PX route are required to erect the new 400kV overhead line. Diversion of the existing PY route is out of scope. Murphy-Eltel JV has been contracted to carry out the Detailed Design (DD) and construction work for the diversions and new 400kV OHL route.

EDES Involvement

EDES were employed as sub-contractors mid-scheme to initially complete the final-state design for PX Diversion 1 (PX8-PX9). EDES covered the line design and analysis for the PX Diversion 1 (PX8-PX9) overhead line/underground earthing route only.
